Nyomi Gray who goes by her stage name NY a female singer known as the queen of ‘Rhythm‘n’Grime’ also considered by many as the most promising unsigned UK female vocalist. Ny aged 21 years young, coming from Kentish Town, North London Ny graced our T.V screens with her smashing single ‘Fire’ which featured Purple a west London Mc. The video was highly selected on MTV Base and Channel U.

How did ‘Ny’ start out?

In January 2005 a persistent ‘Ny’ at the age of 18 put out her first mixtape which was called Split Endz Vol. 1. Aimed at the underground urban scene the cd featured 20 original tracks such as ‘Fire’ and ‘Damage is deadly’ selling 3000 copies independently Ny was shown a lot of love from various urban commercial radio DJs, also she featured on tracks along side some of the most well respected UK artists such as Sway, Dizzee Rascal and The Streets.

Following the success of Spilt Endz Vol.1 Ny released the sequel Split Endz Vol. 2 in 2007 under ‘True Tiger’. Tracks from Split Endz Vol. 2 Such as Willow was played on Kiss Fm’s Daytime radio for 13 strong weeks. As a result of Ny’s growing underground hype and undisputed buzz, in the summer of 2007, after completing a hardcore nationwide radio and performance tour, Ny is currently working on her debut album. Doing so well as an unsigned artist hitting over 200,000 views on her myspace shows the levels.

What to look forward to from Ny?

In 2008 Ny has two funky house/bass line singles coming out, one of which is produced by Wokie (Mobo nominated producer). Also her album which is untitled at this moment in time but keep posted on her myspace for up dates as well as showing some support by purchasing Spilt Endz Vol. 2 from all good record stores.
